Who is eligible for the NDIS?
To be eligible for NDIS disability support services and to hire disability service providers, an individual must meet the following criteria:
- Age: The individual must be under 65 years of age at the time of application.
- Disability: The individual must have a permanent and significant disability that affects their ability to participate in everyday activities and use special equipment because of a permanent and significant disability.
- Residency: The individual must be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa.
- Location: The individual must live in an area where the NDIS has been rolled out.
- Early intervention: Children under the age of 7 with developmental delays or disabilities may also be eligible for early intervention support under the NDIS.
